Creating a Facebook Ad can be intimidating, but it's worth the cost if you're looking to be found online by pet owners in your area. There are so many options to choose from, and it doesn't help that the pet care industry is such an expansive topic with so many options to your audience! If you're looking for some pointers on how to create a successful Facebook Ad for your pet care business, this article will guide you through the process.
Where is Your Audience?
We get that you might want to target pet lovers all across the country, but at this point, it will just cost you more money. Unless you already have an established following on social media or know how to use search engine optimization (SEO), then odds are your ad won’t get seen by anyone outside of the local areas where they were targeted.
Keep things simple by targeting a specific region like “pet lovers within 5 miles”. We call this hyper-targeting, and it’s a good way to focus your efforts in a smaller area, so your money goes a little further.
Pick or Create the Right Image
Think of all of the things you see online, and how you’re constantly bombarded with photos and videos. Finding the perfect photo to accompany your ad post content can be difficult, but it’s worth the effort. Once you’ve found an image that will grab some attention, upload it to Adobe Spark (or any other customizing tool) and customize it with text and fonts from their library. This should take about 30 seconds or so. Keep in mind, you’ll need a few different sizes of the image in order to create a square and landscape version of the artwork.
Once you’ve created your original content, use Canva to add text around it so that it can be used for Google Ads or Facebook Ads (or any other type). If you need more fonts than what they have on their library, try using Google Font.
If you don’t want to design, then pick an interesting angle of photography and use that within your ad. Maybe you can carve a little space by just showing pictures of those perfectly paw-nicured paws! The key here is creating something that speaks to your brand and your personality, but it’s also consistent as you create additional ads.
What’s your “Call to Action”?
The worst thing you could do when you create Facebook Ads is not include a strong call to action. What do you want your audience to do?
Here are a few ideas:
- Collect email
- Provide a coupon
- Like your Facebook page
- Follow you on Instagram
- Join your private group
Ultimately, you’re trying to build an audience that is loyal to your brand and business. That way, regardless of what your competition is doing, they will remember your business.
Let the Campaign Run
You’re making an investment, so you might as well let it run for a while so that your pet care marketing campaign can be seen by as many pet owners as possible. It’s tempting to stop it once you start getting some results, but if pet owners aren’t seeing your business right away then they might not be looking at all.
It takes time to build up momentum—so don’t get discouraged! Keep running the campaign for a few weeks before analyzing how well it did and decide whether or not you want to continue with Facebook Ads in general.
One thing you can do is start to “A|B test”. That means running two different pet care marketing campaigns at the same time to see which is more successful. The trick here is to change small elements of the campaigns, such as the background color, or headline, or photo—but test only one thing at a time.
If you don’t have enough money to continue running with these ads, then spend time on other pet care marketing strategies like Google Ads or SEO. That way, those ad dollars are being used wisely and effectively.
